Adding More life to the Sunrise
Looking at a painting I did a few years ago, I realized that I had tried to duplicate the photo, which often lacks the life you had hoped for in the finished work.
I pulled out more reference photos to see how to proceed.
I used a Mr Clean dampened sponge to remove some of the color from the dark horizon band and tips of the rocks. Then, I added more color in the sky and some clouds.
Finally, I adjusted the colors in the sky and water with glazes and made the sun the glowing ball as the focal point. Even though positioned in the center, it seemed to work here.
This painting, “Morning Glow II” is now available on my website and is on display at Family Chiropractic in Brunswick Georgia
